Smithfield Prod, Romania

Smithfield Prod is the largest and most modern slaughterhouse in Romania, with a processing capacity of 600 heads per hour, being located on the former COMTIM premises. In Romania, Smithfield Prod is based in Timisoara, in Freidorf Slaughterhouse and produces fresh pork meat and semi processed pork meat under Comtim brand.

Smithfield Prod’s objectives are to revitalize the pork industry in Romania and to supply the national market with made in Romania fresh pork meat, in order to balance the imports. We are proud that in 2011 Smithfield Prod produced approximately 30 % of carcasses classified in Romania and that 100 % of total hogs slaughtered at Smithfield Prod, were produced in Romania by Smithfield Farms.
